WLS Shoutout

On June 18, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Andrea

I gotta say — I love Royal Pains on USA.  ALMOST as much as I love In Plain Sight.

Last night’s show had two WLS shoutouts: one overt, and one subtle.  The overt was B1 deficiency in a WLS patient while her brother had a cupric deficiency due to zinc-overload (which is YES very possible in us as well, especially in those of us who take high-dose iron).

Go.  Watch.  Enjoy the snark. It’s about 45 minutes long, but it’s enjoyable.

I do love me some Royal Pains. In fact, I was making a tortilla pizza while watching it and I had to rewind it to make sure that I heard them say WLS. I was like, “Yeah, they are talking about WLS,… oh wait a second, B1 deficiencies aren’t cool. Neither is bringing up all the excess skin I try to hide on a daily basis.” Oh well, at least it was a mention, right?

And at least it wasn’t a NEGATIVE mention. Like she was DYING because of her WLS (like the House mention was).

I thought it cool that Dr. Hank could figure it out just from the hints.. diet, no sugar, long sleeves in July.. If only others were as observant. Like, you know, our own doctors?

Thanks for the heads up. I saw in in a repeat on Saturday while visiting my parents. My Dad and I were watching it-I don’t think he realized that can happen. Dr. Hank is a cutie and so smart, makes me want to move to the Hamptons-oh wait, I have to hit the lottery before that happens!

we watched it (cause of the Big Show) and I didn’t even realize what it was about… but i said to brian… “an alarm goes off, she takes a ton of vitamins, she didn’t eat her food and said she was on a diet, I bet this is about WLS”
