Isopure Smoothie – Berry Pomegranate

Berry Pomegranate

I’ve had a number of reviews that I’ve been waiting to write up, and just not enough.. well, time.  Between the book writing, the email answering, the kid rearing, the spouse-everything, and the attempts to get back into a gym habit?  Life is busy.  But sometimes it’s just easier to make excuses rather than just doing things.

The Isopure Smoothies aren’t new per se, but their reformulation is.  And it’s great.

Nature’s Best says:

Isopure Smoothie is made with 100% Pure Whey Protein Isolate. It comes in delicious yogurt like flavors and is lactose and aspartame free. Isopure Smoothie is a rich source of ALA Omega 3 (260mg)and contains more than 7400mg of BCAAs.

I let the kids help review these so they felt like they were part of the process.. and these aren’t bad for them in moderation.  Some of the products I use, not so much.  But a bit of these?  Not bad at all.

He looks at his sister, dubiously..

Plus, let’s face it – if a 3 year old is willing to drink this, and wants more of it?  It is more likely to get grown adults to follow the recommendations and do it as well.  At least, one would hope.

These aren’t thick, like one would expect from the term “smoothie” but are more like a richly-flavored milk.

And they are GOOD.  The children think so as well, and I generally have to drink these in private or I will be sharing more than I choose to.

The nutrition of them is good, as well:

This bottle is a 16 oz serving, which is great for my sized pouch.  For a newbie, this would last for awhile for sipping, but is nice and thin so it wouldn’t overfill a pouch too quickly.

What I really like is that these taste great and are an alternative to the more traditional chocolate and vanilla drinks that are so prevalent on the market today.  Plus, they are pure whey isolate, so are a great source of protein and Indispensible Amino Acids that we need to keep our muscle mass and help with wound healing.

I found mine at Vitamin Shoppe for $3.79, but can be purchased for a bit less at Netrition.com

I love these. They are a nice change from the thicker shakes and taste great. All of the flavors taste great and go down easy and sit nicely. One of my new faves….but I have always been an Isopure girl.

  2. Been a big fan of IsoPure products for awhile, usually stock up on all their new products at the Arnold Expo every year. I’ve been growing increasingly more intolerant of casien & some whey complexes, so it’s nice to be able to turn to isopure for the whey isolate, can still get my extra protein for workouts & no gi issues – Chris
