So yesterday, I attended the Bariatric Breakthrough Challenge run by Erin Akey and hosted by Dr. Eric DeMaria of New Hope Wellness.

We were encouraged to set some goals. 3 month, 6 month, 1 year …

In the process, we learned about a half-marathon held down at Disney World in November – the Wine and Dine half.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a HUGE Disney fan. Absolutely HUGE. I went down to Disney every summer with my dad for 20+ years, my kids and I watch Disney movies on the weekends, etc.

So if there was to be any motivation to get my ass back into a running program? This would be it. Further motivation would be to somehow get my favorite musical artist involved somehow..

Apparently, there is going to be a group of bariatric patients going down to do this. One of my friends in Raleigh is planning on doing it with me.

Now, it should be noted that I haven’t run for a year and a half so I’ll be starting from scratch. But I have 200+ days to get back into some semblance of shape (I’ll be adding a ticker) and I am putting this out there as a means of accountability. Yes, I hope to keep my progress updated.

The route

There’s also a 5k this weekend if anyone is interested in coming, but not the 13.1 mi. Come! Join! Be a part of the insanity party!

Yep, I will be doing one of their runs eventually. The one I want to do is the run through the park at night! I have, by the way, heard nothing but great things from other runners who have done various park runs. I don’t know anyone who has done the Wine & Dine, but it’s Disney…so I say it will be rad! :)

I have done the Expedition Everest Challenge @ Animal Kingdom every year since its inception (in 2008). It’s a 5K with obstacles and a scavenger hunt. Fun times!

Drinking and eating while running. That works.
