Now that I’ve been here, I’m going to be making a few changes.

If this were old days, I’d find a cute “Under Construction” picture and put that up. But I’m tired after doing homework for about 6 hours straight so.. no.

Just know that it’s coming. I hope.

..It’s been awhile

I looked. My last post on here (here, not FB) was way back in 2014 about Quest bars.

A lot has happened.

Not only have I gone back to school full-time, but I’ve been at it for two years and am at the 4yr university deep into my degree (no more basketweaving courses for me..) That means I get to spend my time on organic chem, nutritional assessment, and nutrition science these days. Next semester will be more.. fun. Or something.

I also changed my career path. Sorta. But it’s all good. It’s still bariatric, and nutrition. Ish.

I logged in because I finished a study guide I put together for one of the chapters I just finished for nutrition science about the water solubles and thought I’d upload it. Sorry for any abbreviations, but honestly, it is *my* study guide.

If anyone actually reads this, wants to know more about what’s in this, or wants to see the notes that I took from the chapters.. or what I get from lecture.. or whatever.. let me know.

I’ll be honest, though.. FB is where you can find me most often.

Quest Bars – Pending Lawsuit

On January 22, 2014, in Uncategorized, by Andrea

Thanks to Dr. J. for the heads-up on this:

Like the Quest Bars? Many people do while others get sick off them with no good reason why. Now, we might have a reason.

A class action lawsuit was filed in California against GNC and Quest Nutrition, LLC, alleging that the advertising and nutritional facts for the bars are incorrect compared to the product on the inside of the package.

Screen shots from here:

PDFs of complaint and GNCs response can be found here.

Reminds me of Hank’s Protein and the UpCal-D fiascoes of years past…

Remember me? I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t. Been awhile since I’ve posted on here.

I’ve got a post or two in my future in mind, but before I get to those, I wanted to share a tool I found.

This is based on the idea of not breaking a pattern. It’s a simple concept: print out a simple calendar for each item you wish to do on a regular basis (walk 20 minutes a day), and mark off each day you do it.

Failure is a part of life. The most important part. It’s the part that teaches us things, and it’s the part that hurts. – In Plain Sight

There are several reasons someone decides to start a blog. Generally speaking, they may be for personal edification, to help others with information that might be helpful, for notoriety and fame, or for many other reasons.

Keeping a blog going for any length of time, regardless of the original purpose of said blog, is not necessarily the easiest thing. For one thing, coming up with something interesting or of note to post can be a challenge at times. Putting one’s thoughts and feelings, as well as struggles and triumphs can also paint a large target onto one’s back. And let’s face it — many of us simply do not want have the time to come up with witticisms to share with people who may or may not read and appreciate them, or wish to deal with a bullseye painted right between our shoulder blades.

So here I have sat for awhile with a number of things in my life. But the most recent, and now the most pressing upon my emotions is the Wine and Dine half-marathon that was held at Disney this past weekend. The one that I’d been “training” for since January. And the one that I did not get to complete despite the medal you see in the picture above.
