Qnexa up for review

On July 11, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Andrea

I’ve made no secret that I’m on the anti-seizure med Topamax (aka Dopamax because it makes you STUPID until you get used to it) for my migraines.

Now it’s being paired with Phentermine and going before the FDA for approval.

I’ve even heard of some people who have been put on a VERY low dose of Topamax (10mg) post WLS for carb-craving control (I’m on 150mg for comparison), and I’m of mixed minds of this.

In addition to Qnexa, there are two more weight loss meds coming up for FDA approval.

Cincy Hotel Room Help

On July 11, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Andrea

The OH Cincy event is coming up and it was expressed to me yesterday that it might be nice to have a clearing house for people to help find roommates for the event ($120 for a double, which can EASILY get 2 people, 4 if you don’t mind sharing a double bed with someone).

So to help people find roommates, I’m offering up this page.  Leave comments with emails if you’re looking for roommates and maybe you can find someone.

Hey — I understand — finances are tough.  I really get it.  I’m trying to work out a way to come to Houston.  So really?  I *get* it.

It’s back.

I suppose if I were more awake, I’d find a picture of Ahnold, the Govenator, and make some crack a-la Terminator.  But I can’t due to the fact that my brain cells are pretty much dead right now.

If you’ve not read about my knife-in-gut problems, you can catch up on the main problem here.

Last night, it came back — completely out of the blue.

The strange thing is that it pops up while I’m sleeping.  Very odd how it pops up.  But whatever.  At least I brought one of my meds with me, but not enough to help quell the pain of lunch today — which was out and about because, of course, I’m on vacation.

Shit.  I hate my fucked up guts sometimes.  I really want the knife out of my guts right now, though.  Because they feel like I’ve swallowed a Kabar.

I have some Xanax called in.  Maybe that will help — or at least I won’t care.

Blogging from the road

The beautiful Nessa

The last couple of days, I’ve been out of touch in DC at a Swedish “thing.”  The nice thing was that I got to meet up with Sue C. and Nessa during my down-time.  I didn’t want to pay for the $13/day internet, so there wasn’t any blogging during those days.

I’ve only been home for a full day and we leave tomorrow.  This time, I get to bring the kids on a long drive (12 hours or so) to visit the grandparents in Kentucky for one of the last visits before they move out this way.  In the process, I’ll be getting together with a few other WLSers along the way — really my favorite part of the road trips themselves.

It has been requested that I do a post about what I eat and do while I’m gone, so I’ll try to do so.  I’m not really a heavy food blogger.. so I’ll do my best.

Take care, and take your vitamins while I’m gone!  I’ll be around to check emails, so that is likely to be the best way to keep in touch for the next week and half.

As many of you know, the ASMBS had their Annual Convention in Las Vegas last week and now the journals are starting to pour out a ton of information from that meeting.  I’ve been slacking of late, but I’m going to start putting in the things that they’ve churned out from the meeting as it directly relates to the WLS community.  Maybe not nutrition-wise, but still.

And yet more for the “duh” files..
