All The Whey – Cake Batter

Cake Batter

Awhile ago, I reviewed All The Whey’s unflavored whey protein — and their wonderful *insert snark* customer service skills that I experienced.  While I’m still not overly impressed with that aspect of the product line, I’m going to simply say “If you’re interested, go read that review” rather than really rehash it for all 12 samples or so that I got from them.  Kay?

Activity Challenge

On May 25, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Andrea

My new kicks

So there’s a challenge I’ve seen floating around Facebook to walk/jog/run 60 miles in June, logged on Dailymile.com.  And while I normally use Runkeeper to keep my runs (when it, you know, actually works?) I figured what the hell?

So I’ve joined with the additional goal to add cross-training to my jogging schedule.  I really need to do the additional work and just haven’t with no other reason than general laziness.

I’ll post on Runkeeper (because it’s automatic), and on DailyMile (because it has the challengers), but I’ll probably also start adding my workouts here simply because I’d like to keep a better accountability of my activity.  I’d really like to suck less.

If you’d like to join the DailyMile challenge, please!  And if you’d like to help log activity with me?  Do that as well!

Regain

The family

I’m going to talk about a dirty topic in the WLS world – regain.

It’s something that no one ever wants to think about, but inevitably, it comes up.  And it’s generally discussed with hushed tones, malice, pointed fingers, disdain, snickers (and not the good kind with peanuts, either), and of late?  Discussions of suicide.

Suicide?

Yeah.  That caught me, too.

But it was mentioned at the SoCal event by Yvonne McCarthy (Bariatric Girl) that she gets letters from WLSers that have regained 10-30lbs that are now suicidal and don’t know where to go.  And that we need to deal with this.

And then there was the whole Newbies vs. Oldies brawl a few weeks back in which some newbies tried to go after Beth because how could someone possibly regain when one can’t tolerate sugar and with only an ounce-sized stomach?

So let’s put this out here, and make it really, well, gritty.  It’s long, so sit down with some coffee, and, well..

I’ve been there.  I’ve done that.  And yeah?  I’ve kept the big, fat tee-shirts that go along with it.  A few times now.

Wrap-up: SoCal 2010

On May 24, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Andrea

Karma

So I’m home.  And as much as I am always looking forward to getting away from the craziness of my chittering tw0 year old and chattering almost four year old, and the subsequent chaos that accompanies those two with the cats, dogs, fish, frogs, and husband?  I do miss them, even for the 3 days that I’m away.  So I’m glad to be home.  Even if I’m ready to go again when seeing the kitchen sink, the dirty living room, the piles of laundry to do, the blog posts to write, etc.

SoCal Day 2

The OC

Mornin’ Folks!

It’s 6:17 Pacific and Beth’s in the shower (so I only have a few minutes)..  I have to get ready before to long, but thought I’d hop on while drinking my protein shake to give a quick run-down of yesterday (still no pic’s.. I’ll make it up to you when I get home, I swear!) while I could.

Got up early, did my run, got Beth up on a treadmill to prove she could, in fact EXERCISE (no, she didn’t run.. but I never asked her to, either) and then we went out in search of food around the hotel to avoid a $6 cup of coffee.  Found a great little Bohemian cafe (the Gypsy Den Cafe) and it was WONDERFUL.  I cannot speak highly enough of this place.  It was perfect.  Walked around, took pictures of all the crazy sights that we always seem to find around us, then headed back to the hotel with some 7-Eleven goodies (Don’t even get Beth started on her “Sasquatch”) where we immediately started running into OH peeps.  Some recognized me, most caught her.  One actually recognized me but not her.. which was a bit … weird.  Because I’m a nobody compared to Beth.
