Ok, I have completed the assessment phase and the Gruve now tells me if I have met my goal it has set for me or not.

I have not started to get up when it vibrates yet.  It is probably going to be hard with the type of job I do, but I’m going to give it a shot.

Other than that, I don’t have too much to say about the Gruve itself, but I have made some observations as far as the differences between the Gruve and the GoWear Fit.

Gruve Review – Day 5

On March 27, 2010, in Reviews, by Magnus

Okay.  Tons of questions here.  This is a dual post from both of us.  I’m sure you’ll be able to pick out the pieces from us (if not, whoa.  I mean, really?  Whoa.)

Ok, so this afternoon Andrea was talking about how she had just been sitting around the house doing nothing and that she was only at 1,300 calories burned for today. The thing that struck me was that her numbers are way higher than mine.  According to the Grve I only burn around 500 calories in a day, it just doesn’t seem right since my estimated RMR is 1,884.

RMR, or Resting Metabolic Rate, is the number of calories you burn each day just to keep your body functioning properly. So if I stayed in bed all day, not moving at all, I should burn almost 1,900 calories; the Gruve is saying that I only burned 500ish in a whole day.

Update: After looking around on the gruve website it looks like the number they show is the calories you burned in addition to your RMR.

Gruve Review – Day 1

On March 23, 2010, in Reviews, by Magnus

Hey all.  This is gonna be something a bit different.  While at FitBloggin, we were given a Gruve — a new device to help people “learn what they burn.”  I already own a Go Wear Fit, so when I brought this home, the husband (who is more of a g33k than I am.. yes, I know, it’s hard to believe) stole it.  This is going to be a series of posts written BY him as he chronicles his use of the device in his trek to better health.  I won’t be doing much in the way of editing, and remember that his native language is a mixture of Swedish and g33k.  If you have any questions about the Gruve, I’ll be referring you to him.

Without further adieu..

Your guest writer for the next couple of weeks is me, Andrea’s husband, Magnus. I will be posting reviews of the Gruve that Andrea got at fitbloggin10.

The device

First off, the actual device is pretty small and will fit on my belt just fine.  It doesn’t feel bulky at all (like those pagers we used to carry around years ago).
