Savannah Meet and Greet

On April 20, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Andrea

I’m heading to Savannah tomorrow to a WLS YouTube Meet and Greet organized by the Tiptons.

Which is unusual since I’m, perhaps one of the few, that have not done a vlog on YouTube.  Yeah, I’m barely blogging, I don’t think I could embrace adding YouTube.  Especially with the toddler yelling “EGGY!” like he is right now?  I’m not sure that would really be quality view-worthy TV if you catch my drift.

However, I am heading down south.  If you’re in the area, come!  Yes, come!  (Yannow, if you aren’t already!)

You can get more info over here.

OH Blogs — Featured

Back awhile ago, I was interviewed (aka I answered an email…) about blogging my journey.  That interview is up on  You can go view it here.  It’s very short.

It’s the second time I’ve had something featured by the OH e-newsletter.  The first was actually an article I wrote for the January edition.  You can read THAT here.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

I remember last year when I was having gut pain (yes, this is not the first time, only the first time I’ve had a blog..) and I jokingly told the surgeon (who thought adhesional pain) that he was welcome to revise me while he was in there.  Ya know — take a tuck here, nick down the pouch there — anything to kick start my weight loss again.  I think I was somewhere around 215 at the time but my memory is a touch fuzzy.  And of course he didn’t.

So here I sit, and I’m basically back to stage 1, complete with low food tolerances, low food intake, lack of desire to eat, and yes — even an inexplicable stall given the amount of calories I’m taking in versus the amount of calories I’m putting out.  The only thing I’m missing out is the lactose intolerance I had right after surgery, the liquid Lortab, and the yicky stuff leaking out of my very long incision on my stomach (which, btw, was completely normal just yucky).

So this time around, is it any different?

Food Police

Protein, protein, and more protein.

Okay.  The WLS world is all aflutter.

You’ve got the OMG HOW COULD THEY?’s, the OMG GIMME’s, and the Meh’s.  Well.  And you’ve got me — “OUCH!” but that’s just cause I’m broken.  If I weren’t, I think I’d fall in the Meh category.  Maybe I’d try it, maybe I wouldn’t.

So let’s put this out here — I. Don’t. Do. Vegetables.  AT ALL.  No, really.  My stoma doesn’t like 90% of them.  Fruits either.  It’s picky.  And this is on a good day.  What do I live on?  Protein.  And what you see above?  Is what I’d consider a normal meal.  Although I’d get it with bread.  It’s not special.  It’s not icky (although it looks like a sauce?  It would have to go in my world.  Andrea doesn’t do sauces.)

“But Andrea?  You had a surgery to change the way you live!  Don’t you want to eat well and have a healthy life?”

Okay.  I’ve been patient.  I’ve been good.  I’ve behaved.  Now I’m getting a bit unhinged.  And not in the trainwreck-that-is-delightfully-funny-to-watch variety.

Today was my followup appointment with my GI about all the crap I’ve been going through.  Well.  Actually, it was supposed to be yesterday in Lousiburg, NC.  At 3:30.

Clearly this says Louisburg. Right?
