I’ve been slow on my ASMBS posts. I know it, but life has a funny way of getting in the way..
A discussion of late on the BBGC is about collagen protein supplements, and of course how they are either good or bad for supplementation. So it’s spurring me to share one of the things I learned while down in Orlando: how to figure PDCAAS.
There are calculators out there, or you can usually hit me up and beg for a score as I’m generally curious as well. And in the past, I’ve used the calculators because I never knew how to do this myself.. but now I do and it’s interesting how it’s done.
In the future will I continue to use the calculators? Possibly. We’ll see. I’m kinda old fashioned in a number of ways, and I may choose to keep doing the long-hand method just to keep up the practice (and to impress everyone..) but at least now I’ll have the choice.
And so will you.
I’ve sat on this review for about ten months now. I don’t normally run from a fight, but this one I did.
See, Unjury sent me samples back in December and I offered to try them. However, shortly after, the attitude of the Unjury owners changed towards me and I honestly did not feel as though I could give an honest review of the product. So I didn’t in fear that a bad review would draw even more criticism from the owners of Unjury. (How this would be possible, I’m not even sure.)
Suddenly, I find, that I just don’t give a damn. So away we go.
UNJURY® is a great-tasting protein supplement that provides the highest quality protein. One serving of Unjury provides 20 grams of protein – as much as 3 eggs – without the fat and cholesterol.
UNJURY® Protein Provides:

* Truly great clean taste.
Medical Quality Protein Developed by a Clinical Dietitian
An experienced Clinical Dietitian, MS RD — in search of a light, clean, good tasting, high-protein supplement — found no product out there with high-quality protein. This inspired the development of UNJURY®. Unlike other protein powder supplements, UNJURY® is better because it is almost entirely protein — and has a great taste! Try UNJURY!
Third up in my All the Whey samples? Wild Berry.
So the kids are getting involved in the sampling process. They both sniffed this one before I mixed it up. The three of us different opinions on what it smells like. Keep in mind that we’re talking about a 2 year old and an almost 4 year old. The 4 year old says: “Strawberry!” The 2-year old says “yummy!” And I say “What smell?”
Awhile ago, I reviewed All The Whey’s unflavored whey protein — and their wonderful *insert snark* customer service skills that I experienced. While I’m still not overly impressed with that aspect of the product line, I’m going to simply say “If you’re interested, go read that review” rather than really rehash it for all 12 samples or so that I got from them. Kay?

After the brouhaha that happened last week with the Newbies vs. Oldies crap, I was contacted by the makers of Gotein. They were reading on Beth’s blog about all of the drama that happened, found the link to my blog, and decided to ask if I’d like to review their product. Being all up for freebies, I quickly said yes (do I look stupid?) and thus I was given some samples to try. Not paid to review, of course (unless you count free protein?) and nothing but my honest (heh, as if I could be anything but..) opinion was asked for. Got it? Good. Moving on..
It’s Wednesday. I leave for SoCal tomorrow and I’ve got to figure out what I’m going to do for food / supplements for the plane ride across the country. I really meant to do a review yesterday, but time got away from me. As it’s doing again today. Oh well.
So lunch will be a Gotein to review.
